Blackstone Ranch Properties and Hidden Oak Development in Tulare have donated land to California USA Wrestling to build a 16,000-seat multi-purpose arena, according to the Fresno-based non-profit wrestling group.

"This development project will have a tremendous economic benefit to the city of Tulare and the entire Central Valley,” says Greg Nunley, managing partner of Great Valley Land Company, and spokesman for Blackstone Ranch Properties and Hidden Oak Development.

“We all look forward to seeing this project become a landmark of this community.”
California USA Wrestling is currently seeking financing for the $100 million project.
Rob Valerio, California USA Wrestling treasurer, says development plans for the land in north Tulare include the arena, retail, corporate offices and a hotel and conference center on a 27-acre site.

He says the project will create up to 950 temporary jobs during the construction and development, 2,000 direct jobs upon completion of the complex, and ultimately 4,000 indirect jobs throughout the region.

The target opening date for the arena is February 2015.

The site of the arena will receive maximum visibility as it is located along one of the most traveled highways in the country: Highway 99. Tulare, California is located in the Central San Joaquin Valley between Fresno and Bakersfield and is one of the fastest growing areas in California. Tulare is a hub for product movement with Stockton, Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Francisco each being approximately 200 miles away. The location of the arena is ideal as there are many cities that the facility will conveniently serve.

City Info

California USA Wrestling’s home arena will be located in the city of Tulare, California. Location is one of Tulare’s best assets. The city is situated in the Central San Joaquin Valley along Highway 99, 45 miles south of Fresno and 60 miles north of Bakersfield. The mid-state location benefits businesses needing same day access to key California markets as well as residents seeking recreational opportunities in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains to the east and the spectacular California coastline to the west.

The town of Tulare was founded in 1872 by the Southern Pacific Railroad to serve as its San Joaquin Valley headquarters. Transportation was the driving force behind Tulare’s establishment. The County of Tulare has a growing population of 425,000. The Eastern half of the County is comprised primarily of public lands within Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, Sequoia National Forest, the Sequoia National Monument and the Mineral King, Golden Trout, and Domelands Wilderness areas. Opportunities for all-season outdoor recreation include: hiking, snow skiing, fishing, white water rafting and boating. Visalia, the County Seat, is the gateway to Sequoia National Park and a variety of recreational activities. The city, with a population of 120,000 is within a four-hour drive of either San Francisco or Los Angeles, and a 2-1/2 hour drive of California's central coastline.
