CALIFORNIA MAT AND PAIRING OFFICIAL MINI GRANT INITIATIVE

The object of this mini grant initiative is to help California Mat and Pairing Officials participate in tournaments beyond the state level that will offer them the additional experience and knowledge necessary for an upgrade, and if you are ready, provide the opportunity for you to be evaluated and take whatever examinations may be required.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

California Mat and Pairing Officials currently licensed with the USWOA, and who are at least a Category 3, are eligible for this program. Category M3 mat officials are eligible to apply for a mini grant to attend the Western Regional – Kids / Cadets. Category M2 on an individual basis, and all M1C and M1 officials may apply to attend Cadet and Jr. Nationals in Fargo, ND. Since participating in Greco Roman events varies through the state, mat officials who are applying should plan to attend the State Greco championships for evaluation of their abilities. Because of the wide range of jobs available to pairing officials at regional & national level events, they are eligible to apply for a grant to attend either of the regional or national level events named.

APPLICATION

An application form is enclosed and should be mailed or delivered as directions indicate. Please note the specific postmark deadline for mini grant application. There are no exceptions. If your application is not postmarked by the deadline date, it will not be considered.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The following are some the selection criteria which will be used when your application is considered.

  1. The applicant is able to perform the level of work expected of officials at the event applying to attend.

  4. The applicant is eligible for an upgrade.
  5. The applicant will benefit local and state programs as a result of regional or national level experience.

If you received a mini grant last year, officials who did not will be considered first unless you are also eligible for an upgrade, in which case you will be considered equally.
