He was also a 3x World Team member at the Cadet and Junior level, finishing with a Junior FILA silver medal, before making 2 US Senior level World Teams.
Following his competitive career, Mark came on as an assistant coach under US Wrestling legend John Smith at Oklahoma State for 3 years. Following OSU he was the Head Assistant Coach at UC Davis before he made a solid run in the Middleweight division of the UFC. Currently Mark is coaching, acting, speaking, and running his own website and business. We look forward to having Mark share his wrestling expertise with the greater CA wrestling community. Check back soon for updates on the activities of the Future Olympian Program.
Daniel McCune is a teacher and coach at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA with Erik Duus and Bobby Soto. McCune is also the executive director of Sunnyvale Wrestling Club. A solid background in wrestling administration makes McCune a great partner for FOP Director Muñoz. Their history working together dates back to the office at UC Davis, where McCune was the team administrator. The two have worked together consistently since then as Muñoz has hired McCune to be on staff with his West Coast Wrestler Camps for the last decade.
McCune is also the founder of the Webber Lawson Tournament and Scholarship Fund, the co-tournament director of the California Coast Wrestling Classic, founder of the Sunnyvale Youth Wrestling League, and is a CA USAW Board Member.
