California offers several coaching certification clinics each year. Certification is required for all coaches attending regional and national events. For information on state requirements for coaching certification go here. Information on officials' licensing appears on our officials' page. Additional training events may be listed in the calendars for state events, regional association events, and other events. Before travelling always verify with the contact person as changes can occur.

The cost for Bronze certification is $60.00 and the cost for Copper certification is $25.00, paid to the State organization. This includes a book and processing of your certification test, which must be mailed back to the State by the deadline given by your clinician. Certification is issued by the National Office, which will mail your certificate to you. The State organization will send a copper or bronze coaches' card to you.

To attend coaching clinics you must have a current USAW Coaches Card -- these cards can be purchased at the clinic site.

Steps to obtaining your Copper Level Coaching Certification

1. Purchase current USAW coaching card from your local association or from the state office.
2. Attend copper level certification clinic. Refer to schedule on this page.
3. Read “Rookie Coaches Wrestling Guide,” which will be provided at the clinic you attend.
4. Complete and mail in take-home Copper level test. Mail to:
