The Dave Shultz California kids freestyle state tournament held June 3rd 2011 in Fresno, Ca was the worst EVER! We have been attending the last 5 years and it has gone downhill every year, but now I'm questioning it's overall integrity! Cost is $30 to $40 per kid with about 1800 kids registered...$14 entrance fee per person per DAY to watch your kid wrestle AND the wrestlers couldnt take in their own bottle of water, they had to BUT it from the venue at $3 each!!! 600 matches were scheduled on 7 mats for Saturday ALONE! At small, local tournaments 9 mats are used.. And Cadet Greco State was going on at the same time and in the same room! Why? Their season was over a long time ago...6 and 7 year old kids were told to wait 10 to 12 hours to wrestle 2 x then come back the next day, wait all day to wrestle 1 time and go home...AND those who qualified for Nationals needed to commit right there and then and pay right there and then..The organization made a KILLING off this tournament...AGAIN, integrity is in question...Fed up and will not be giving any more of my money to this joke of an organnization who has taken advantage of my kid for the last time...
